The 2019 Open Evening 

An audience of around 120 attended the seventh Open Evening in the Gibson Building at Dollar Academy. The speakers were: -

Jenny Green a 3rdyear Medical Student at Dundee University (who had been one of the first recipients of the JMJET Bursary) very eloquently described her experiences of applying to the Medical Schools as well as her experiences as a medical student. As the young people present were at the stage of considering their future careers and what they needed to take into account, it was clear that they found Jenny’s very clear description and advice extremely helpful.

Callum Cruickshank, a junior Doctor who graduated from Edinburgh University, two years ago described the progress of a graduate Doctor through the post grad training/qualification process. In doing so he involved the audience in illustrating the very varied day to day activities and responsibilities of the young doctor in today’s NHS. He concluded by emphasising the enormous personal satisfaction he gained from his interactions with the patients.
